I wasn’t lonely and depressed, I just needed to (l I wasn’t lonely and depressed, I just needed to (literally) frolic in a field of daisies.

After being down with laryngitis and a double ear infection, it felt so amazing to get out in the sunshine! I hadn’t left my house in 9 days! I don’t think I’ve ever felt so desperate for sunshine. ☀️ 🌼 🌱

Motherhood can be lonely, especially the first few months after a new baby, and especially during times a sickness! My mind was starting to play tricks on me telling me I have no friends, and reminding me that I have no family nearby.

I’m grateful to God for some encouragement to my heart today, grateful for a phone call that cheered me up, and grateful for the friends who dropped off soup and oranges. And such a timely and sweet package from my sis with her homemade tinctures, sore throat tea, and elderberry syrup kit!

I don’t think daisies have ever looked so beautiful to me as they did today.

It’s been a sweet, hard season. I was getting pret It’s been a sweet, hard season. I was getting pretty burnt out on homeschooling right before the holiday break, possibly the most burnt out I’ve ever felt with it. But we came back to it this week feeling a little more refreshed and with better systems in place, and it has gone really well. I can be pretty hard on myself, and am still trying to operate like I have 3 kids, when in reality I probably need to talk to some bigger homeschool families and reassess my expectations. I feel like we crossed a line into “big family homeschooling”, and it’s definitely different than how I grew up with 3 kids close in age. But we’re hanging in there, and this last semester really did go quite well. We accomplished a lot and the boys made great progress in many areas.
Has anyone else been at this point with homeschooling, and what did you adjust?

Enjoying the last of summer with my kiddos before Enjoying the last of summer with my kiddos before we go back to homeschool. We made it to one of my favorite places, #ferncanyon.
I’m glad I could do it at 34 weeks pregnant, as I’m definitely not feeling very athletic at the moment. We didn’t go in quite as deep, and I was grateful to have some help getting my toddler over logs.
We had such a great visit with family and longtime friends!
Now back to the reality that the school year is fast approaching. Summer is always such a needed break for me as a homeschool mom. More time for rest and creativity.

Favorite homeschool field trip to date!! Sailing o Favorite homeschool field trip to date!!
Sailing on the SF bay is something I’ve wanted to do for years. @callofthesea made it so fun for everyone. The kids studied marine mammals, took turns steering the boat, helped set the sails, took a water sample and studied plankton under a microscope, and practiced tying knots. Sailing right by the Golden Gate was such a treat!
